Drawing real fat women would be the way to go. If you've never drawn before, trying to draw some regular sized women would also be really helpful, since you still need to understand anatomy and posing and all that.
Also, so long as you don't try to pass it off as your own work, I would unironically suggest tracing. It can be a great way to understand shapes and forms, especially if a particular pose or reference is stumping you. If you're practicing, it should only be a small part of it and not the bulk of your studying.
You'll want to take a good, hard look at artwork that you really like too. You can learn a lot from other artist's work, like how a particular artist tackles certain shapes and details, how it's simplified in drawn form, how they colored and shaded, etc.
