Walking down the halls of the Aether Foundation laboratory, a bag from Carl's Jr. in hand, Lusamine thrums with anticipation. She recedes into her office, taking a seat behind her desk and carefully reaching into the bag. Inside, there are no fries, and she has no drink, nothing to complete a meal, just a single, precious, Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger. Retrieving it, she unwraps it from the foil before pushing the bag aside, placing the hamburger down, and just looking at it. Staring. As if it held all the secrets in the world.
"They say the medication is giving me delusions," she whispers, half to the Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger, half to herself. "They say I've fixated upon something which must've once held importance to me. That you must be a flickering symbol of my husband inside my venom-addled mind."
She leans down, now directly and unmistakably talking to the hamburger. "But I haven't so much as thought of him since I left Ultra Space. You are nothing familiar... Just something beautiful. So, perfectly beautiful."
A pause. Silence. The slightest trepidation makes her shudder as she registers that she's confiding in a hamburger. Again.
"It wasn't the venom," she states, picking up the Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger and readying herself to eat it. "I know it. Somewhere out there, in another dimension, you felt me as I felt you... You're there. And you're there for me, through this. This burger..."
