She upheld her commitment to Aika and took care of Tessa. A low passing grade for all her hysterics, but still a pass. She can do right by both girls... My guess is that Fani may well reveal herself as a manifestation of Saiya's thoughts, echoing Saiya's own self-loathing and convincing her that the girls are better off without her and that she only causes them grief and harm. That Saiya is better off keeping herself away from them and staying with just her. Just Fani. That we know Saiya can (sorta) do the thing right thing contrasts with what Fani is saying and sets up the conflict that both Aika and Tessa will need to overcome in saving Saiya from herself.. And yes, I know this is just one single day where Saiya wasn't a complete shithead but we don't need to belabour and drag that point out. For the sake of story expediency, the reader has been made aware that Saiya can do good for the other girls; the girls can recognise that and that gives them a toehold into putting their differences aside and to save Saiya from herself/Fani.

On page 512, Kip said that he always plans 20 pages in advance. So, here's to many more years.
