I can admit to being wrong, guess it's accurate to say that an audience for plus-sized stuff in Japan. If Plus-sized elf could get an anime adaptation and a second season, perhaps there are FAs in Japan. Perhaps it's more accurate to say the audience is limited compared to in America. Though maybe stuff like that can build more FAs in Japan. It can inspire more interest in plumper bodies and more creators make more stuff with BBWs and so on.

I also thought the few FA creators is why Sumo wrestlers are presented as ugly/comic relief in most anime/manga. If most of them have ugly/cartoony faces because most creators don't know how to draw plumper bodies as sexy/attractive and that includes faces. I know there are sumo fan girls IRL, just figured that most mangaka aren't interested in the sport and may not know of them or are interested in having them in a story or catering their manservice towards them, they'd rather have ripped dudes with 6 packs over presenting sumo wrestlers being sexy. I lived in the Philippines for awhile. I'm Filipino now living in the US. Yes there's some guys who date larger women there. Filipino women can get big, but many are insecure since our culture tends to look down on overweight women. Getting back on topic, figured that stuff with BBWs in Japan can be seen as a gamble. Even if the creator is into plumper women, the question is if it can pick up an audience. I brought up that like a story of Sumo wrestlers treated as sexy could have a gay/bisexual fan base, whereas trying to get straight dudes to buy a story of female sumos gaining weight would be seen as less sexy and more weird. My hope is if works like Plus-sized elf can inspire more creators and works that embrace plus-size fanservice and to have women that are legit fat and not Hollywood fat.
