Actually it's not so much that the art is bad but the techniques used are. For one you're using paper instead digital and for two you're basically just coloring in with colored pencils which honestly the only thing second worst is crayons. If you're going to use anything probably best to try pastels there are some cheap ones out there but there are some expensive ones do that and you can get on the same level as berryduke is now how do you think his stuff is looking better? He's using museum grade utensils. He's confirmed this multiple times.
As for the digital route I say get yourself a sketchbook or pad app. They're crazy things you can do with the use of things like dropping tool it makes filling base colors easier. And using shading techniques can really draw things out and make them look crazy anywhere from three different shadings to five different shadings can lead to some really crazy looking stuff! It's amazing how playing a drawing looks until you add shading to it. A good look gone awful! But that little bit of shading really makes things pop.
Again overall I think the drawing style is better than most I've seen but yeah if you're using paper with a barely lit background none of the professional stuff you're either best cheapest option is go digital or get better tools. I'm not kidding when I say I've seen great artist like that out there that draw like that but they're always held back by having the crappiest tools imaginable at their disposal
