There is limited and conflicting evidence, and it is far from being conclusively proven. There is still very little known about how, and to what extent, male and female brains differ.
Research into sex-based differences in brain structure tends to be quite scarce to begin with because it's an uncomfortable subject that psychologists are quite sensitive about because historically there were misguided attempts to use neurological research into sex-based brain differences to prove that women are somehow mentally inferior.
Psychologists are often reluctant to permit such research for fear of the research being used to support sexism and discrimination, for fear of being accused of such discrimination, and for fear of uncovering results that might be uncomfortable.
Even when it is conducted, what is made public is often contradictory or fails to be generalizable.
And even if an individual did have brain patterns that would be typical of the opposite sex, that wouldn't alter what sex their body is, and sex is a property of the body, not of the mind.
One cannot choose one's body anymore than one can choose one's (biological) parents. Nature is what it is, not what we want it to be.

This is simply irrelevant. Hair length is not an indicator of sex.
All this proves is that there are people who will make lazy assumptions based on incomplete information and outdated stereotypes.
Though I agree on the point that being misidentified as the opposite sex should not be something to take offence at.

It is not a matter of offence, it is simply a matter of what is true and what is untrue.
If I were looking at the sun and someone else were to insist that it was actually the moon then I would rightly tell them they are mistaken.
If someone were to insist that they had seen e.g. ghosts, fairies, or angels, I would not humor them by pretending those things exist, I would tell them that such things do not exist.
To be required to go along with something that is clearly contrary to the facts is tantamount to cooperating with gaslighting.
The world is as it is, not as we wish it to be.
At the end of the day the truth matters more than anyone's beliefs or feelings.

I think you'll find that so far I have not actually responded to anyone who has been posting actual content. My original comment was in reply to someone stating that merely 'identifying' as a man or woman is enough to be a man or woman, and every reply since has been part of that debate.

Did you miss the part where I said that some people would rather recategorise a man as a woman than admit they felt attracted to a man?
I make no judgement about what sexually arouses people, I merely refuse to be party to being forced to lie about someone's sex and refuse to accept that 'identifying' as something is sufficient to be that something. Claiming to identify as a 20-year-old wouldn't make me any younger.
