The app uses a small local database (SQLite) that lives right next to your video files, in a folder called VideoSorterLibrary. When you point the app at a folder, it scans through and finds all the videos, then records each one - its file path, a thumbnail, and space for a rating and tags - in that database. The rating and tagging is all done manually so that you have autonomy on what tags you would like to attach to a video, you can add as many custom tags as you want also. Whenever you rate a video or add a tag, it just updates that one entry. Nothing gets copied or duplicated — the videos stay exactly where they are, and the database just keeps notes about them. Because the database sits inside the same folder as the videos, you can move that folder to another drive or computer and all your ratings and tags come with it automatically. If you delete a video from the folder, the app notices next time it checks and cleans up its entry so you don't end up with orphaned data.
