Video Sorter — a tool for organizing your TMC archive
If you've got a folder full of TMC clips with inconsistent filenames and no way to tell them apart at a glance, this is for you.
Video Sorter is a small desktop app for Mac that turns a messy folder of videos into a browsable, taggable, searchable library — without touching the original files.
What it does
Point it at a folder and it scans through (including subfolders) and finds every video automatically.
Thumbnails are pulled from the midpoint of each clip, so you get a genuinely representative preview instead of a black opening frame.
Star ratings (1–5) for quick quality sorting.
Tags — build your own reusable tag library, colour-code them, and apply them with a click while you're watching a preview. Year tags get their own separate section automatically.
Filter and sort by rating, tag, untagged/unrated status, or filename, and combine them.
Duplicate finder — compares the visual structure and length of every video to flag likely duplicate groups side by side, so you can compare and pick which copy to keep instead of hunting manually.
File details — see resolution and file size right in the preview.
Move to Trash straight from the app when you're ready to clear something out.
Fully portable — the library (tags, ratings, thumbnails) lives in a small folder right next to your videos, not locked to one computer. Move the drive to another Mac and everything comes with it.
Nothing is ever re-encoded, renamed, or moved. It just keeps notes about what's already there.
Requirements
Apple Silicon Macs only for now (M1/M2/M3/M4). No Intel build yet.
The app isn't signed with a paid Apple Developer certificate, so macOS will flag it as being from an "unidentified developer" the first time you open it. This is expected — right-click the app → Open, then confirm the dialog that appears. You only need to do this once; it opens normally every time after.
