To elaborate, the ID is like a phone number while thr username is like your name in the contacts book, anyone can be saved as "ScoBionicle99" in a contact book but only you have that unique "phone number", your ID. To bring that ID across devices you go look up your recovery password in the settings and put it somewhere safe.
