Its ugly because most artist use an anime artstyle which makes everything cuter. Personally not a fan of this artstyle, but I wont judge others for liking it

I partially prefer it due to constant amount of squish, folding and heft he gives to the characters, plus he can make them look cute, he just gives them more realistic fat faces + mostly uses model references of irl fatties which make them look a bit weirder
