I think part of the problem is that he didn't really frame it as something he regrets, or something cringe. He was giddy to tell people about this little fat girl that he and his friends followed around while no other adults were present, and clearly compared her to diamond tiara, an MLP character that he likes to sexualize, that's a bad look.
And it becomes worse when you take a closer look at some of his art, he draws sexualized versions of characters played by real child actresses, and characters clearly meant to be doing childish activities, like being girl scouts. The guy has preferences.
